Little did I know at the time (some twenty-five years ago) how important this mantra would become.
If personal growth and self-belief are important topics on your agenda, then this motto may be worth considering. I created with this motto approximately 25 years ago. It was a time of deep soul searching and personal growth.
NOT EVERYONE IS HAPPY -LIFE IS NOT ALWAYS THAT EASY
In my 20’s there were periods of depression, a lack of direction and a sense of being disconnected from life’s purpose. In fact, I had struggled to find happiness in “things” including music, sport, career, and relationships
AMBITION & ASPIRATION -DIRTY WORDS OR A GODSEND?
I had many inhibitions and limiting self-beliefs, and these were in serious conflict with my personal and career goals and my aspirations regarding wealth, lifestyle and personal happiness. I dreamed of being successful and living a rich and meaningful life of personal fulfillment and purpose but at the time, the outside world was not kind to me, or at least so it seemed!
TO GET WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE YOU MUST DO WHAT YOU HAVEN’T DONE
There was no road map, nor enough personal change (or growth) and I wanted to be much more at peace with who I was, what I stood for, and where my life was heading. I had started asking questions but was not clear on what answers I was searching for.
GETTING SERIOUSLY UNCOMFORTABLE ONCE A MONTH
It occurred to me that I needed to get out of my comfort zone more often.
I’m not talking about a minor discomfort such as another 30 minutes in the gym or being a little more vigilant with my diet, I meant getting seriously uncomfortable, so far beyond my comfort zone that it would lead to new “been there done that” life experiences in the least and perhaps a massive paradigm shift in my self-belief system at best.
FEAR OF HEIGHTS-THE MONACO BASE JUMP
I had a massive fear of heights, so one month I ran off the highest natural land point over Monaco in a parachute and an instructor that could not speak English. It was an amazing experience and I will never forget it. Did it cure my fear of heights? No -LOL but it sure proved to me that I could go beyond my comfort zone and is today one of my great moments of all time.
BORING TASTE BUDS? -EAT LIVE WITCHETTY GRUBS
I had always been a boring eater, unwilling to order or try anything exotic so one month I ate a live Witchetty Grub at Ayers Rock. It was not pleasant at all and yet today is still one of my great memories and I have been much more inclined to try new flavors since.
LIMITED SELF-BELIEFS? -TRY NATIVE INDIAN AMERICAN FIRE WALKING
I learned of an individual who passionately endorsed the concept of allowing “white people who can’t jump” to participate in a Native American Indian Fire Walking Ceremony.
